Description: You Choose...Join Christine Barnes’ workshop where you get to choose which special effect you want your quilt to result in using the same pattern.
Luminaria – when you surround a relatively small area of warm, intense color with a larger area of cooler, less-intense, darker color, your quilt will appear to glow, as if light and warmth are coming from behind creating a Luminosity effect.
OR
Transparent Squares – create an illusion of Transparency; layers of see-through color with light center squares that seem to float above the darker shapes. Sections of gray ombre appear to flow underneath the blocks, enhancing the sense of light and movement.
This workshop begins with a crash course in color, followed by an evaluation of your fabrics to ensure success which will be surprisingly easy to achieve once you understand a few simple concepts. Then you’ll begin cutting and piecing your blocks. Both quilts use the same pattern. Along the way, Christine will have lots of tips for making the process easier and more accurate.

Guild Meeting/Lecture: Christine Barnes Color: Step by Step Tutorial
Time: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Description:
Learn how, exactly, Christine plans and makes a quilt? Which comes first, the design idea or the fabric? How to "hunt and gather" fabric for a quilt? How does pattern affect color in fabrics? For the first portion of the lecture, Christine will show digital step-by-step images and describe her methods of choosing, auditioning, and editing fabrics. A trunk show of quilts and wearables wraps it all up.
